Marcelo Suaznabar

Marcelo Suaznabar was born in Bolivia in 1970 in the mining city of Oruro. From an early age he had a passion for drawing, motivated by his Uncle Enrique Suaznabar, a professional photographer whom lived in the same city. He attended the Art School of the Catholic University in Santiago, Chile in 1992. Suaznabar expresses his examination of the elements that compose human subconscious, themes that preoccupy human beings universally: passing of time, death, nature, sexuality, beauty, temptation, fear, religion. Uniquely composed, these pieces are oil paintings composed on wood panel boxes finished with a lacquering of resin. Gallery 71 is excited to show this intriguing work, the likes of which we have never seen.
